Chirpy Store

We love nothing more than seeing our products find a home in shops that truly get what we're about. Chirpy, an independent gift shop in the heart of Chapel Allerton, North Leeds, is exactly that kind of place.

For nine years, Chirpy has been a go-to destination for beautiful, affordable gifts from local and UK makers - the kind of shop where every product has been chosen with real thought and personality. From ceramics and candles to stationery and jewellery, it's a treasure trove for gift hunters and design lovers alike. There's even a workshop space upstairs for craft events and pop-ups, and an online shop with UK-wide shipping for those who can't make the trip to Leeds.

We're proud to be on their shelves, and we think once you discover Chirpy, you'll understand why.

Can you tell us a little about your shop and where you are located?

Chirpy is an independent gift shop in the heart of Chapel Allerton. We pride ourselves on selling beautiful affordable cards & gifts for all occasions, from local and UK makers and small brands.

We embrace the idea of shopping local as so many of our customers pop in to buy a gift on the way to meet someone to give the gift too, we can always be relied upon for those last minute presents. which we can gift wrap for you to. From ceramics to stationery, jewellery to candles, we’re confident that everyone will find something they love as a gift or a treat for themselves.

We have some lovely local products too, from bespoke North Leeds homewares designed just for Chirpy, to Yorkshire maps, chocolate and cards. Upstairs we have a workshop space too, where we host craft workshops, events and pop ups. We also sell online too, offering Click and Collect, local delivery and shipping across the UK.

How did you get started?

I bought Chirpy 9 years ago (it was our 9th CHIRPYVERSARY in November 2025). I’d never thought of having a shop but after 25 years in the corporate world I really wanted a change and Chirpy just happens to come up for sale.

It had been my go to gift shop as I live only 10 minutes away to it seemed as if it was meant to be. i got the key 6 weeks before Christmas, a real baptism of fire, and have grown the business ever since.

What inspires your product selection and curation?

I love bright, colourful, practical gifts. Everything I have in Chirpy I would buy as a present for someone so that’s what helps my buying decisions.  I always advise my customers who are wondering what to buy to trust their own judgement and buy something they really love, just as I do when I’m buying for the shop.

I’m always on the look out for things that are a little bit different in their design, and practicality is really important as I think people are much more conscious of what they buy and don’t want too much stuff which doesn’t serve a purpose.

What are your favourite products at the moment?

I love our Leeds Brick vases and our new range of candles and journals which make perfect gifts.
Our children’s leggings are brilliant too with customers coming back to get a pair every time there’s a new baby!

Which Studiowald products are your bestsellers?

The pocket flower presses are a favourtite with our Chirpy customers - so many of them remembering flower presses they had when they were younger. The tea towels are always great grifts too, sometimes too nice to use and customer say they are going to frame them

Chapel Allerton is the perfect place to shop with independent shop, with everything you need on one street, from the greengrocers, the fishmongers and cheesemongers, to great cafes and bars, Yoga & Pilates studios and independent gift shops.

The Little Bookshop is a wonderful independent book shop and Armadillo is a fabulous independent toy shop - both a most visit for children’s birthday gifts.
