Meet Megan Smith – Our First Ever Artist Collaboration 🌟

We’re beyond excited to introduce Megan Smith, the incredibly talented artist behind our very first artist collaboration!

Recently, we ran a competition on Instagram inviting creatives to design a unique illustration for our bestselling Pocket Press - and the response was amazing. We were blown away by the creativity and originality of every submission, but Megan’s quirky cartoon design truly stood out. It instantly captured the hearts of our entire team!

We caught up with Megan to learn more about her, her creative process, and the inspiration behind her stunning artwork.

Tell us a little about yourself.

I’m a 27-year-old artist and illustrator based in a beautiful rural village on Royal Deeside, Scotland. I love walking, hiking in the Scottish countryside, taking photos and foraging for flowers.

When you started illustrating? Where did you study?

Since I was little, I've drawn every day, and I have always known I wanted to pursue an art career. After leaving school, I studied Communication Design at Gray's School of Art in Aberdeen, where I graduated with a BA Honours in Illustration.

Tell us about your work?

After uni, I secured a year-long contract for an online position with a design company in London, where I designed cards for Moonpig and Funky Pigeon.

Since then, I have primarily focused on commission work, particularly bespoke pet portraits, which have gained considerable popularity. I also engage in personal creative projects within my local community and online.
I sell my pet portrait commissions, prints, stickers, and original artwork on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, Etsy, and at local markets.

Your design was a stand out - we love it!! What inspired your flower press design?

The primary inspiration for my work comes from nature, including flora, fauna, and folklore. For my flower press project, I decided to explore the fun idea of drawing anthropomorphic flowers—giving them personality and showing them partaking in cute, human-like activities, like foraging for their favourite flowers. It was a joy to bring this drawing to life!
